Supporting families and children in our community
About Woodlanders
Woodlanders Pre-school provides early years care and education to children in Ashburton and the surrounding area. We are rooted in the community and run by a team of dedicated staff who are passionate about early years education and supporting the needs of families in the local area.
In addition to pre-school care and education Woodlanders provides holiday clubs, parent and toddler groups and specialised sessions such as forest school, messy play, French and yoga.
The fundraiser is now closed!
Update 1st August 2022 - the online fundraiser is now closed having raised £215 towards our target. The Bailiff's Byngo ticket sales and other donations enabled us to donate the full amount required to complete the project.
Needs
We have a high level of need at Woodlanders. We support lots of children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and all children sometimes need a quiet supportive space in which to feel calm and focused. Supporting children's wellbeing is very important to us at Woodlanders and more relevant than ever, after 2 years of Covid restrictions that have limited young children's ability to socialise and engage with their peers for a huge part of
their lives.
Project
We aim to create a sensory room which can be used as a quiet space for relaxation, focused activities and a safe space for individual children or small groups, to develop and engage with their senses. Sensory rooms use a variety of stimuli such as lights, colours, sounds, sensory soft play objects and aromas within a safe environment, that allows the person using it to explore and interact without risk.
Budget
The project is budgeted to cost a little over £1000, but is made up of smaller projects costing from £45-£500, each of which goes a long way towards helping us achieve our goal.
Fundraising
To support Woodlander's you can donate online, it doesn't have to be a lot, remember a little goes a long way! Or join us for an evening of entertainment, laughs and general madness at the Bailiff's Byngo event on March 5th 2022 at 7:30 in the Town Hall.
Should we be lucky enough to exceed our target, the surplus will go towards our other supported causes.
